About IgnitionTech
A code consulting firm built around the fire marshal's desk.
IgnitionTech Fire Consulting LLC is a Houston firm that has handled high-piled storage, hazardous materials, and fire code permitting across Texas since 2009. The firm provides code review, code consulting, and permit consulting. It does not provide engineering services.
The firm
IgnitionTech grew out of the high-piled storage permitting practice its principal started in 2009, first inside an industrial distribution company and then inside a fire protection contractor. Those years produced a specific skill: reading a warehouse the way a fire marshal reads it, and writing the plan set and the commodity classification that get the permit issued.
The practice now covers the work that surrounds a storage permit. Hazardous materials inventories and management plans. Lithium-ion and energy storage hazard mitigation analyses. Sprinkler design criteria and submittal review. Fire modeling for alternative method requests. Pre-lease due diligence for brokers and tenants. Contract plan review for jurisdictions that need a second set of eyes.
High-piled storage permitting runs under its own name, High-Piled Permits, at highpiledpermits.com. The people, the standards, and the office are the same.
Why clients choose IgnitionTech
National multidisciplinary firms bring a deep bench at enterprise prices and a project manager between the client and the person doing the analysis. Installation contractors know their systems and not the code that governs the rest of the building. IgnitionTech sits between the two: principal-led, Texas AHJ fluent, and focused on warehouse, industrial, battery, data center, and school buildings.
- Principal-led. The person who scopes the work does the work.
- Expert fire code consultants and former FM inspectors on staff, so code and insurer expectations are reconciled in one pass.
- Fixed-scope reviews with a set deliverable and a set fee for the most common starting points.
- Permit-ready documents formatted for the jurisdiction's portal.
- A standing relationship with the Houston-area fire marshals' offices and the reviewers who handle storage, hazmat, and battery submittals.
How an engagement runs
Four steps, in the same order every time
Confirm the jurisdiction and the edition
Texas cities and counties adopt different code editions on different schedules and amend them differently. Every engagement starts by pinning down which code, which amendments, and which reviewer.
Read the building the way the reviewer will
Occupancy, construction type, sprinkler design basis, storage, and hazardous materials are checked against the adopted code before anything is written.
Write for the person who has to approve it
Every conclusion carries its code section. The document is formatted for the jurisdiction's portal and written so a reviewer can approve it without a phone call.
Stay through acceptance
Plan review comments, AHJ meetings, and the final inspection are part of the scope, not change orders.
Referral partners
Architects, brokers, rack dealers, and contractors
Most IgnitionTech projects arrive through a partner who hit a code question on a client’s job. Partners get a direct line, a fast answer on whether a building will work, and a scope the partner can hand to the client.
